We learned with great sadness this morning that the President of Chad, Marshal Idriss Déby Itno, died of injuries received while he commanded his army in fighting against rebels in the North.
We offer our sincere condolences to the people of Chad. ??
President Idriss Déby Itno was an important leader not only for Chad, but for all the region.
We share the pain and sorrow of the Chadian people at this time of mourning.
