
President Bagci Speaks at Sofia Forum 2023 on Tourism in the Region
Sofia, Bulgaria – June 27, 2023 – The World Tourism Forum Institute (WTFI) President, Bulut Bağcı, spoke at the Sofia Forum 2023 on the topic of “Tourism in the Region: Opportunities and Challenges.”
Bağcı, who is also the founder and president of the WTFI, said that the tourism industry in the region is facing a number of challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and the rising cost of living. However, he also said that the industry is resilient and has the potential to recover and thrive.
“Tourism is a key driver of economic growth and development in the region,” said Bağcı. “It can help to create jobs, boost investment, and promote cultural exchanges. In a time of uncertainty, tourism can be a source of stability and hope.”
Bağcı called on governments, businesses, and the tourism sector to work together to address the challenges facing the industry and to seize the opportunities that it presents.
“The future of tourism in the region is bright,” said Bağcı. “But it will only be bright if we work together to make it happen.”
The Sofia Economic Forum is an annual event that brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to discuss the most pressing economic challenges facing Bulgaria and the world. This year’s forum was held on June 27, 2023, at the Sofia Balkan Hotel.
Bağcı also highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation in the tourism sector, and called for the development of new tourism products and services that are tailored to the needs of the 21st century traveler.
He concluded his speech by saying that tourism is a powerful force for good, and that it can help to promote peace, understanding, and development. He urged the audience to work together to make the future of tourism in the region a bright one.
