WTFI APPOINTS TOYIN ABIODUN AS THE NEW MEMBER TO INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (London, UK, August 11, 2020) –– World Tourism Forum Institute is reshaping economies through tourism development. It works to maximize positive effects of tourism around the world, besides one of its main aim is to minimize the negative impacts, which are obstacles in our way to achieve sustainable development goals in tourism globally.

WTFI generates market knowledge, promotes competitive and sustainable tourism policies and instruments, fosters tourism education and training, and works to make tourism an effective tool for development through its events, masterplans, marketing, research and HR solutions. Bulut Bağcı, as the President and the Founder of the WTFI, has been assuming the role of Chairman of the Boards since 2010, Sumaira Isaacs serves on the World Tourism Forum Institute Board of Directors for more than a year.

WTFI’s New International Council member Ms. Abiodun advising on trade and industrialisation sector strategies for Rwanda. As a Strategic Trade and Industrial Development Advisor, her experience has encompassed trade facilitation, industrial cluster mappings, value chain development and investment engagements with both public, private and non-profit sectors in ways that have centred on the enabling of a thriving business climate that underscores sustainable inclusive growth and development.

Toyin Abiodun

In her current role, she’s advising on trade and industrialisation sector strategies for Rwanda. As a Strategic Trade and Industrial Development Advisor, her experience has encompassed trade facilitation, industrial cluster mappings, value chain development and investment engagements with both public, private and non-profit sectors in ways that have centred on the enabling of a thriving business climate that underscores sustainable inclusive growth and development. Ms. Abiodun furthers trade interests through diplomatic liaisons at regional economic communities – EAC, COMESA, ECCAS. More recently Ms. Abiodun has actively advised on rebuilding Travel and Tourism in Rwanda/Africa.

Prior to this role, Ms. Abiodun worked as Private Sector Development Consultant at PwC UK/Nigeria helping to catalyse inclusive growth through private sector strategic partnerships on several development partners funded projects. Ms. Abiodun’s also held numerous Business Development Exec/Director roles in professional services and magic circle law firms, most recently as BDD at a social enterprise in East Africa that cater to World Food Programme’s lactating mothers and malnourished school going children in Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, the DRC etc.

In independent consulting capacity, with Ms. Abiodun’s entrepreneurial flair, she supports various women economic empowerment initiatives through engaging public, private, civil society actors in Africa to advance the course of women business owners, drawing attention to bottlenecks in cross-border trade and informal sectors. As a proactive development professional with almost two decades of professional experience backed by a strong strategic cap and a natural ability to identify and capitalise upon investment opportunities, she helps to drive gender-equal business growth. Toyin is sits on the Advisory Council for Women Economic Imperative Inc.
