Valasia Iakovoglou
Dr. Valasia Iakovoglou is a distinct graduate of Iowa State University (ISU), USA. Her BS is in Forest Biology, the MSc specialized in Urban Forestry and her PhD in Ecophysiology/Sylviculture with an extensive research background to restoration and conservation of ecosystems with emphasis on biodiversity as related to climate change. She has more than 25 years of international/national educational, research, teaching and outreach experience with active involvement in more than 20 international projects. She has received numerous scholarships, awards and recognitions. She has been an editor in more than ten international peer-reviewed journals and a reviewer. She has numerous publications (more than 100) that include books, book chapters as well as peer-reviewed papers.
She is involved in many scientific societies, associations and volunteer efforts. One of the scientific societies is the Mediterranean Experts of Climate and environmental Change (MedECC). She also serves as a Scientific Committee of the UNESCO chair “Conservation and Ecotourism in riparian and deltaic ecosystems, Con-E-Ect” and since 2018 she has been assigned as the Director of the Ecotourism sector. Since 2016, she is an active Board Member of the “Association of Inter-Balkan Woman’s Cooperation Societies, AIWCS” responsible for the “Education” sector.
